Star Deed provides people the ability to name stars as gifts or memorials to loved ones and to personalize those gifts to fit the individuals.

Through Star Deed you are not only able to choose the name for a star, but you can also choose the constellation in which your star appears. You can choose a constellation from the Zodiac, or you can get creative. You can even choose one that appears at a certain time of year to commemorate a certain event or simply one that your friend or loved one is known to prefer--like Orion, for instance.

The standard Star Deed package includes a greeting letter, an actual Star Deed, a star map to help you find the particular star amongst the multitude, and all of the information currently known about the star. You can also choose to include an optional planisphere, or star wheel. The star wheel will aid you in pinpointing your particular star at any time of year.

Your star's new name will be published the week you order it in our online star catalog. (Private messages are for the recipients only and will not be published online.) You can also reference your star by its SAO catalog number so that you can easily find it with an automated telescope and save its location.
